11.15.22 Let Go
Did you know that the Cross is all about letting go? God the Father is all about letting go? A majority of counseling and life issues are all about letting go? All of these statements are true and once we can take in the reality of these truths, our lives will become more internally peaceful and stable.
One extremely important verse in the Bible concerning this is found in Matthew 6:14-15 :
"IF you forgive men when they sin (offend) you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins (offenses), your Father (in heaven) will not forgive your sins."
Ephesians 4:32 "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you."
Colossians 3:13 "Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord for gave you."
Forgiveness does not mean we forget but that we let go of the "right" to hang onto the offense and to get even. Forgiveness does not always mean this person who offended you is safe for you to be around but it does mean you let go of wishing any evil will upon them or that you continue to talk bad about them. Let go and let God deal with them. Think about it. Each and everyone of us has wronged someone at some time in our life, intentionally or unintentionally. And it is a simple fact that we need heavenly Father's forgiveness between us and him every single day. We offend him in our thoughts, our speech, and our actions. I am grateful he sees us through the sacrifice of forgiveness his son Jesus made on the Cross.
Think about it. What kind of life do you want? I want one filled with internal peace and unblocked answers to prayers, with the mercy and goodness of God weaving throughout my spirit and life, no matter what is happening externally.
Check out verses concerning forgiveness towards others, of ourselves, the work on the Cross. You simply cannot love Christ and not be wise to forgive and let go. Lets grow up, become mature in Christ, stop fussing and squabbling and offending. Amen.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, bring to our remembrance of sacrifice that Jesus went through on the Cross to submit a blood sacrifice for our sins, individually and collectively. Let us be mindful of not taking on any offenses and not putting out any. Help us to remember we are all human and have stressful and bad days, hurts and wounds that cannot be seen, and how we would like to be treated as well. Give us wisdom to know when to truly forgive and to walk away, knowing that person or situation is not healthy for us. We desire to be free and healthy in mind, body, soul, and spirit. 5.18.20 Friends I am a loyal and faithful friend but I am also a friend for a season and a time. Most of us are. This made me think on this subject for the last few days and I would like to share with you what the Lord has shared with me. Proverbs 18:24 A man that has friends must first show himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticks closer than a brother A few kinds of friends: Faithful and true: Proverbs 18:24 A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Proverbs 17:17 A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity. Romans 1:12 That is, that we may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith, both yours and mine. Proverbs 27:6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend; profuse are the kisses of an enemy. Forgiving: Matthew 6:14-15 For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Ephesians 4:31-32 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. Psalm 55:12-14 For it is not an enemy who taunts me— then I could bear it; it is not an adversary who deals insolently with me— then I could hide from him. But it is you, a man, my equal, my companion, my familiar friend. We used to take sweet counsel together; within God's house we walked in the throng. Wise: Proverbs 13:20 Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm. Proverbs 24:5 A wise man is full of strength, and a man of knowledge enhances his might, Encourager/edifier: Romans 1:12 That is, that we may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith, both yours and mine. 1 Thessalonians 5:11 Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. Gracious/kind: Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. Ephesians 4:32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you. Romans 12:10 Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; Judgmental/critical: Job 16:20 My friends scorn me; my eye pours out tears to God. Luke 6:37 Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven. Romans 14:10-13 Why do you pass judgment on your brother? Or you, why do you despise your brother? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God; for it is written, “As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.” So then each of us will give an account of himself to God. Therefore, let us not pass judgment on one another any longer, but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother. Deceitful: 1 Thessalonians 5:21 But test everything; hold fast what is good. Proverbs 3:32 For the devious person is an abomination to the Lord, but the upright are in His confidence. Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. Psalm 34:13 Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit Anger/temper: Proverbs 22:24 Make no friendship with a man given to anger, nor go with a wrathful man, lest you learn his ways and entangle yourself in a snare. Proverbs 15:1 A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. James 1:19-20 Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. Proverbs 29:11 A fool gives full vent to his spirit, but a wise man quietly holds it back Mischievous/mischief: Psalm 36:4 He devises mischief upon his bed; he sets himself in a way that is not good; he does not abhor evil . Slanderer/gossiper: Proverbs 17:9 Whoever covers an offense seeks love, but he who repeats a matter separates close friends. Matthew 12:36 I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak, Fair weather friend: 2 Timothy 4:16 At my first defense no one came to stand by me, but all deserted me. May it not be charged against them! In a nutshell, here’s the summary. …......… These are just a few of the types of friends you may come across in your lives. Use wisdom in whom you select to let into your close circle, they will have influence over you and will impact your life for good or bad. On the other side, you need to be the kind of friend you would want in your life, for yourself. You will have casual friends, acquaintances, some-time friends, close friends, and best friends. Select your friends well - you want friends that make you feels good about yourself and who will speak truth to you kindly; friends that will encourage and build you up; friends who will not judge you but support you; friends who will speak the things of God into your heart; friends who will want the very best for you. And you be that friend for them. 1 Corinthians 5:33 Be not deceived, bad company corrupts good character. Amen. -Pastor Sandra Matheson www.olivebranchdiscipleshipministries.com |
